Sharmarke Farah has over 10 years’ experience with the UN, the World Bank, USAID, the Somali Government and various private companies, in more than five countries across Africa, Europe, North America and East Asia. He has a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management and a Bachelor’s in Pharmacology. His expertise include major thematic areas such as Economic Growth, Public Finance Management, Decentralised Governance, Strengthening Health Systems, Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Conflict Management.
Sharmarke is recognised for his research papers on economic growth, human resource management, sub-national governance and public finance management in various forums. He has been instrumental in advocating policy changes on accountability and transparency in aid, public finance and governance reforms including decentralization and area based development. Sharmarke has also advised the government on economic development, inclusive growth, environment, governance and youth employment issues.
