Aweys is a qualified environmental scientist with an MSc in Developmental Studies and over 15 years of educational and project management experience including sustainable agricultural development companies in Africa – Booker Tate. He has specialist experience in educational programmes and natural resources management. As a natural resources advisor for Somali Development Organisation in Mogadishu, he identified, recruited, mentored and appraised partner NGOs for natural resources management (NRM) program implementations, and was involved in ecological site interpretation, and development and implementation of appropriate NRM strategies and solutions in 2012.
Aweys has experience as an academic lecturer as well as a trainer for local officials and small farmers in rural municipalities. He has also worked in Kwazulu-Natal in Somalia, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Mauritius.
